Platonic ?

• I am a little confused... I met this German guy, we have great conversations, he's very attentive and considerate with me (pays for dinners, carries my books) but when we have this talk about where this is all heading, he says he thinks we would develop a good friendship. After that he showed me articles he had read, very keen to introduce me to his inner world. I know too that Germans treat friendships seriously. Does this mean that his eagerness for me to understand him is purely out of "friendship“？
