Speaking French for a job in Quebec!

  • My new employer in Quebec requires me to learn French. Personally, I think I should anyway, while living here. Can anyone recommend me a fun school?

    Thanks,

    Linda

  • Me too

I am in the same situation. I am going to be moving there in 3 months and I haven't started any lessons yet. The only French I did was at school and that finished 10 years ago. Does anyone know how accomodating French Quebequers are to people like me who have little French? I am a little scared that I might not be able to fit in very well until I get my language skills up.

  • French in Quebec

Well, it will be extremely hard to find a job (or to progress in your current job) in Quebec if you do not speak French. Even if you wanted to start your own business there, the legislation MANDATES that the main language of your company HAS to be French.

Sorry, that is a fact of life.

There are plenty of French Language schools as a second language there....

And, regarding fun... well, that is up to you.

    Cheers,

    Rod

  • That french law in quebec sucks

I cannot believe this language story. I thought Canada was bilingual everywhere. It is somehow disapointing.
